Beloit Police: 4 arrested after breaking into home, firing shot at homeowner

BELOIT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Beloit Police have arrested four suspects from Chicago who attempted to burglarize a Beloit home while the homeowner was inside.

Police responded to a burglary in progress in the 1100 block of Dewey Avenue around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Upon arrival, officers heard one gunshot and saw multiple individuals fleeing the residence. 

Those suspects, ages 24, 17, 16, and 13, were taken into custody on scene. They're all from Chicago but police believe that they have ties to the Beloit area. 

The investigation revealed that an adult male tried to keep the suspects from entering his home through the front door. He was struck in the head several times with a handgun.

One of the suspects also fired a shot but the homeowner was not hit.

Charges are pending for the suspects.
