Badgers shocked by Nebraska in Big Ten Tourney opener

Wisconsin's stay in the Big Ten Tournament was a short one, with a 70-58 loss to Nebraska in the Badgers' first and only tournament game.

A surprisingly pesky Nebraska squad, who finished the regular season with just six conference wins, shot 47% from the floor and outrebounded the Badgers 38-33. Wisconsin was cold for most of the game, shooting just 30%, while Nigel Hayes hit only two of the 15 shots he took on the night.

Ethan Happ (17 points) and Vitto Brown (16) led Wisconsin, who entered the Big Ten Tournament as a six seed despite finishing tied for the third best record in the conference. The Badgers lost tiebreakers to Maryland, Purdue and Iowa.

The loss will likely deal a hit to Wisconsin's NCAA Tournament seed. Experts had predicted a six or seven seed for UW prior to Thursday's loss.
