Authorities identify Brookfield man who died after falling though ice on Fox Lake

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office has released the names of three people involved in a fatal ATV accident on Fox Lake.

Emergency responders were called out to the lake just after 6 p.m. on December 23 for reports of people who had gone through the ice. Authorities say three men were riding on ATVs when they went into the water in a bay on the southwest portion of the lake.  Two of them were able to get out of the water and yell for help as the third remained in the water for nearly an hour until rescue personnel were able to reach him in a rescue boat.

The third person, identified as 41-year-old Scott Kellerman of Brookfield, was rescued from the water by emergency crews. He was unconscious and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The two other men, 31-year-old Jared Werni of West Bend and 38-year-old Douglas Niggemeier of Meqoun, were treated at a local hospital and released.

The Dodge County Medical Examiner's office is working to find a cause of death. Stay tuned to CBS 58 News for updates.
