Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital opens hybrid operating room

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee is expanding its services through a new hybrid operating room.

According to the hospital, the hybrid room combines a traditional operating room with an image-guided interventional suite. It can quickly change from a cardiac catheterization lab into a surgical room as needed.

It will be used by physicians to perform a variety of cardiovascular, neurosurgical and radiology procedures. Using donor money, the hospital was able to put $400,000 toward the surgical devices, imaging technologies and software.
