MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Art in the Park kicked off Friday, July 9, in downtown Milwaukee's Red Arrow Park.
Ten local artists will be featured throughout the summer, painting murals or adding chalk designs to the park.
On Friday, the first artist stuck to traditional canvas, but her designs were anything but traditional.
"I just want to see more art everywhere in the city -- if it's here, if it's permanent on a wall," said artist Sara Bott. "This is what it's all about."
This summer campaign is meant to "Jumpst(ART)" the downtown economy
Earlier this month, new bistro tables and chairs were installed at Red Arrow Park, and in August, new banners will be added by another local artist.
