MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Despite facing the heartbreaking challenges the pandemic has afflicted on the entertainment industry, local activity bar company Bars & Recreation is marching on and supporting the community this holiday season.

Any other year, Bars & Recreation venues AXE MKE, NorthSouth Club, Nine Below and Splash Studio would be gearing up to host hundreds of holiday parties, family gatherings, and celebrations. Instead, many of those parties never happened. “We get it,” stated co-founder David Poytinger. “The devastation to our company – the entire industry – is very real. Nevertheless, there is a lot of need in our community right now, and we want to be part of the solution.”

“We’re encouraging the purchase of gift cards and merchandise to support our small business this holiday season,” Poytinger added. “We also have a great relationship with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee and, in partnership with Jack Daniel’s, we saw an opportunity to support them as well.”

The Bullseyes for BBBS program offers two ways to support both Bars & Recreation and Big Brothers Big Sisters this holiday season. 100% of proceeds from all Bullseyes for BBBS purchases will be used to provide Take & Make Painting Kits from Splash Studio to BBBS for distanced, virtual connection throughout the winter.

1.  Purchase the Bullseyes for BBBS game at AXE MKE or NorthSouth Club for $10. The game is played via axe throwing and guarantees great prizes.

2.  Purchase the Take, Make & Give Package from Splash Studio for $28. One Painting Kit is for the purchaser and one kit is donated to BBBS.

“Our team and mentors have worked tirelessly to find safe ways for Big and Littles to stay connected this year – a time that is more important than ever. This partnership with Bars & Recreation is coming at a critical time as we face a long winter ahead and the need for creative activities to keep our kids engaged,” said Stephanie Perry, REACH Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The Bullseyes for BBBS game is available now at AXE MKE and NorthSouth Club, and the Take, Make & Give Painting Kit Package is available online at ShopBarsandRec.com

“We’re out here just trying to survive,” said Poytinger, “but if we can provide opportunities for kids to play and create this winter, it will definitely be a bright spot for 2020.”
