2 juveniles to be charged in armed robbery that prompted shelter in place alert to Waukesha residents

VERNON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office says charges will be referred for two juveniles involved in the armed robbery at Midway Market Friday, Oct. 1.

The incident prompted a text to area residents to shelter in place after the suspects displayed a handgun and fled the store with money and cigarettes. 

Both juveniles will be referred on one count of armed robbery to the Waukesha County District Attorney's Office.

VERNON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place in Vernon on Friday, Oct. 1. 

It happened at Midway Market on National Ave. shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Police say two men entered the store and one man displayed a silver handgun and handed the cashier a note. The suspects left with an unknown amount of money and cigarettes.

Police say they searched the area with a canine and drone units, but were unable to locate the suspects. 

A public alert text message was sent out to area residents to shelter in place. An all clear text message was later sent out after police believed the suspects were no longer in the area.

Police say it appears to be a lone incident with no active threat to the public.
