Annual Family Caregiver Conference

Family Caregiver Conference

Waukesha, WI – The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County (ADRC) will hold its annual Family Caregiver Conference on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Country Springs Hotel and Conference Center. This conference was made possible by the Older Americans Act Title IIIE funding and the National Family Caregiver Support Program. The theme of this year’s conference will be “Education is the First Step: Nuggets of Knowledge for Caregivers”.

Six general sessions on caregiving topics will be offered that include a focus on Care Options, Activities, Health Care Decision Making, Intimacy and General Brain Health. Experienced caregivers will lead a panel discussion to answer questions and share their insight. The Keynote Speaker, Reverend Russell Hurst, from VITAS Innovative Hospice, will encourage caregivers to “Feed Yourself” and will discuss ways to handle the changes, frustrations and anger that can be a part of your role as a caregiver and the importance of taking care of yourself. Over 20 exhibitors from community businesses and resources will be providing more valuable information to participants throughout the day.
Whether you are caring for a friend, parent, spouse, or child or if you are a professional caregiver, this is a great opportunity to connect and share with people who have “walked in your shoes”.

The conference runs from 8:00 am to 3:15 pm. The cost to attend is a $15.00 donation that includes conference presentations, resources and lunch. For more information about the conference or to register, please call the ADRC at 262-548-7848.
