MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The annual Christmas in the Ward celebration kicked off Friday, Dec. 1.
Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and Santa Claus helped light the Christmas tree.
There were cookies, bands, fireworks, and reindeer.
Santa's Elves were answering some important questions about the reindeer as well.
The mayor says this is only the start of the holiday events taking place in Milwaukee this December.
"Throughout the city there are celebrations going on during this holiday season, it's really great, and Milwaukee knows how to celebrate," said Johnson.
Tomorrow kicks off Shop the Ward. You can get some holiday shopping done in the Third Ward through Dec. 22. For more information, click here.
