MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The American Red Cross is holding its 7th annual Day of Donations blood drive on Wednesday.
The blood drive runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino.
The Red Cross says it always faces a shortage of blood donations during the winter months. All blood types are needed, especially Type O.
“It's really, really nice when things like hurricanes happen, we’re hoping other donors from unaffected area are able to set up and roll up their sleeves and donate blood,” said Jessica Peterson with the American Red Cross. “Same thing like in Wisconsin when winter weather hits us we’re really hoping that areas that don’t have winter weather, those donors are able to make a blood donation to help people up here.”
The American Red Cross hoped to collect at least 250 donations during the event.
