MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Amid the recent financial troubles at Milwaukee Public Schools, local leaders are making their voices heard.
Alderman Scott Spiker held a press conference at City Hall Monday morning, June 10, calling on the MPS School Board to do one of two things -- "be honest with the people or resign."
Spiker also called out the board for hosting a budget meeting this Thursday without any opportunity for public comment. He called the board's lack of transparency undemocratic.
"Thanks, public, we've already heard from you back before you knew this news. We don't want to - we're not anxious to hear from you again," Spiker said. "That sort of government, we have one word for: undemocratic."
Spiker also called on the board to release their agenda for this Thursday's meeting and allow time for input from the public.
Spiker then called for a protest outside the Central Services building on Thursday in the event the board does not adopt his suggestions.
