RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Mount Pleasant police say three students were taken into custody Monday following an incident at Case High School.

Authorities responded to an "altercation" on the second floor of the school around 8:43 a.m.

Police say one of the students involved left the building and later returned. Officers gained information that the student had obtained a weapon after leaving the school, and police arrested the student outside before the student was able to make it back into the building.

Police say statements made to officers at that time resulted in the school being placed on a temporary lockdown. It was later determined that the statements were unfounded, and the lockdown was lifted.
