NOW: A solar milestone is just days away, as is the official start to summer
NEXT:

Officially, this is still spring (and it feels like it today). But in just one week's time, we will cross the threshold into summer.

With the Summer Solstice we also get treated to two of the longest daylight hours days we see all year long. Night Friday and Saturday will bring us 15 hours and 22 minutes of total daylight, sunup to sundown:

What is interesting for us is that the latest sunset of the year will happen *after* we have our longest daylight hour days. June the 25th, 26th, and 27th will feature a sunset time of 8:35pm.

This also means there will still be light in the sky past 9pm. A true sign of the summer season!
But after the 27th, sunset times start happening earlier and earlier...

As we ride through this final week of spring, it's going to feel like it as high temps struggle a bit over the next few days. For greater Milwaukee, don't expect anything like what we had this past Wednesday (when highs were flirting with 90 degrees). 80s are in the forecast but it appears to be lower 80s instead of upper 80s.

Along with the 80s coming back on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we'll need to keep eyes out for thunderstorm chances. Too early to say if we'll have severe weather, but it certainly would not be a surprise. It would actually be fitting for the spring season to go out with a bit of a bang. The weather team will continue to monitor and give updates as needed.
