A royal search for love to take center stage at Oconomowoc Arts Center

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Oconomowoc High School Players will present "Once Upon a Mattress," a musical comedy with book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Marshall Barer, and music and lyrics by Mary Rodgers and Marshall Barer.

The production, which will take place on the Oconomowoc Arts Center's Neudecker Main Stage, is meant to be a fun adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Princess and The Pea."

Friday and Saturday performances will run on Nov. 10, 11, 17 and 18 at 7 p.m., with additional showtimes on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 16 at 4 p.m.

The plot revolves around a faraway kingdom where King Sextimus is cursed and unable to speak. Queen Aggravain has declared that her son, Prince Dauntless, must marry a true princess of royal blood before anyone else in the kingdom can wed. The Queen's rigorous tests have so far disqualified 12 princesses, leaving the court's knights and ladies in a state of distress. The arrival of Princess Winnifred the Woebegone shakes things up.

Tickets are priced at $18 for adults 20 and older, $15 for groups of 10 or more and $15 for teens 19 and younger. More information is available by calling the OAC Box Office at (262) 560-3172 or visiting the OAC website.
