Two dead after drowning in Lake Michigan at McKinley Beach

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Authorities responded to two drownings at McKinley Beach, Saturday Aug. 8. According to the Medical Examiner, a 50-year-old man and 14-year-old died as a result of the drowning.

The 50-year-old man died Sunday morning at a local hospital. He was identified as Jesse D. Brock.

The MCSO and paramedics were called around 6:30 p.m. for two people in distress in the water. Both were unresponsive when recovered from the water and CPR was performed.

According to a news release,  "when deputies arrived, the Milwaukee Fire Department’s Water Rescue Boat was engaged in a search for the two subjects. Deputies determined that, initially, two 14-year-old boys entered the water, and one began to struggle. When the second swimmer tried to help him, both became caught in a current."

Officials say the 50-year-old man observed the boys and was able to rescue one of them. When he attempted to rescue the second boy, they were both pulled underwater.

About three weeks ago, authorities were near the same location for a 19-year-old who drowned trying to save his relatives.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
