Milwaukee Medical Examiner currently investigating the deaths of 7 children since May 31st

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner is currently responding to an infant death investigation at 16th and Meinecke. An autopsy will be completed on June 7th.

This is the 7th child death in Milwaukee since May 31st.

Four of the deaths currently being investigated involve infants.

On May 31st, a one-month-old female was found unresponsive in her crib and was pronounced dead at the scene near 19th and Capitol. The death was not suspicious.

On June 2nd, a one-month-old died in the 1000 block of East Knapp Street. 

Also over the weekend, a one-year-old was killed near 38th and Villard. His death was ruled a homicide and a man was taken into custody.

A 3-year-old also died near 39th and Thurston on Sunday.

On Monday, a 2-month-old died at St. Joes Hospital.

The ME is also investigating the death of a baby that died this morning near 46th and Meinecke and they are currently on scene investigating an infant death at 16th and Meinecke.

At this time, none of the deaths appear related.

No further information is being released at this time.
