FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An 81-year-old woman is dead following a fire at a home in the Town of Friendship, located in Fond du Lac County.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, a nearby resident called in the fire on Lakeshore Drive Wednesday, Feb. 11. Officials were called to the scene just after 10 a.m. 

Upon arrival, fire officials located the 81-year-old victim dead in a bedroom. 

Authorities say the fire appears to have started in the basement. 

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene to help with the fire. 

The cause of the fire and manner of victim's death remain under investigation.
