8-year-old Milwaukee boy drowns in West Bend park

WEST BEND, Wis. -- An 8-year-old Milwaukee boy drowned in West Bend on Saturday afternoon, June 5.

According to authorities, around 5 p.m. a family member of the boy alerted a lifeguard that they could not locate the boy.

A lost child address was issued over the public address system and a search of the park's pond began.

The boy was later found unresponsive in the water and taken to the shore by park-goers.

Lifeguards performed CPR and rushed the boy to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials say the incident remains under investigation.

West Bend officials announced the Regner Park beach pond will remain closed Sunday.
