61-year-old town of Addison man killed in Washington County crash

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 61-year-old town of Addison man was killed in a crash in Washington County on Monday, March 27.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says it happened at the intersection of Highway 33 and Alpine Drive around 1:15 p.m.

According to officials, two vehicles were traveling eastbound on Highway 33 when the lead vehicle -- occupied by only the 61-year-old Addison man -- slowed and came to a stop to make a left turn onto Alpine Drive. Officials say the second vehicle, occupied only by a driver, failed to stop and rear-ended the stopped vehicle. The lead vehicle went into the oncoming lane of traffic, as a result of the collision, and struck a semi-truck which was westbound on Highway 33.

The driver of the lead vehicle was severely injured and did not survive.

The other two drivers involved were not hospitalized.

Highway 33 was closed for approximately three hours to assist in the crash investigation and vehicle removal.

The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
