52-year-old Rock County woman found frozen, officials say

TOWN OF HARMONY, Wis. - (WISC) A Rock County woman was found dead, likely due to exposure, outside her home Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office said 52-year-old Lorie Hanson was found frozen outside of her home next to her car in town of Harmony around 12:30 p.m.

Officials said Hanson's husband was out of town and he had trouble getting a hold of her, so he asked his son to check on her.

She was likely in that spot for several hours, the sheriff's office said. Officials think Hanson slipped and couldn't get up and died from the cold. She was wearing a jacket but no hats or gloves.

An autopsy being performed Thursday, officials said.
