MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee leaders approved the $4 million settlement for the family of Sylville Smith.
Smith was shot and killed by Milwaukee police in 2016.
The shooting sparked several days of unrest in the Sherman Park neighborhood.
The approved settlement will cost about $480,000 per year for ten years.
"Four million dollars is a huge sum of money, no question. For what our budgetary plight will look like in the future, however given the case made by our professionals, we stand to lose a lot more potentially," said Milwaukee Alderman Scott Spiker, District 13.
The resolution passed without any objection.
