MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A driver is seriously hurt after crashing into a median and two other cars.
Police say it happened near 27th and Lisbon around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Milwaukee Police say a 30-year-old man was driving too fast for condition and lost control. It was raining heavily when the crash happened. The driver hit the median, causing a chain reaction crash with two other vehicles. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A 46-year-old man in one of the other vehicles was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two other men in the third vehicle, a 21-year-old and a 33-year-old, had minor injuries.
A man who witnessed the aftermath says he is not surprised by the crash because people speed through the intersection all the time.
"People crying and stuff. It was a disaster man. They were getting out of their cars, dropping to the floor. Asking people if they need help and everything and there were plenty of police coming, taping it off," said Devon Smith.
The impact of the crash was so powerful, the motor from one of the vehicles flew into the door of a nearby business and a pole was knocked over. The driver may face charges after he recovers.
