MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A late-night collision near 60th and Fond du Lac left five people dead, including a 1-year-old child.

The crash occurred at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, May 14, when a Kia Sedona, travelling west on W. Fond du Lac, collided with a Dodge SUV travelling on N. 60th Street.

Four children who were passengers of the westward vehicle died at the scene. A 32-year-old man -- identified Tuesday as Lorenzo Trotter -- was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the driver of the Kia, a 20-year-old woman, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and arrested for homicide by negligent operation/vehicle. Another 17-year-old girl was transported to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the children killed as 17-year-old Israel Williams, 15-year-olds Mercedes Brown-Weeks and Mikayla Rattler and 1-year-old Aniya Robinson.

"I love her so much. Lord as my witness, I love that baby so much," said Reba Beckworth, great-grandmother of Aniya Robinson. "I cried my tears that I could, but I'm still crying on the inside. It's just sad the way that my great-grandbaby left this world."

Milwaukee police say the Kia was travelling roughly 80 miles per hour when it collided with the SUV. The posted speed limit for the stretch of road is 35 miles per hour.

"Reckless driving is still a challenge, even with all the work that we're doing in our respective communities," said Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman. "We're seeing these things happen, unfortunately happen, on our south side, north side, east side, west side. The community needs to help us in regards to this particular ongoing effort."

Milwaukee police say the driver of the southbound SUV, a 32-year-old woman, was taken into custody on suspicion of OWI.

As the investigation continues, charges are pending a review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
