MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Families gathered at Sherman Park on Sunday, June 16 for a Father's Day event.
Fathers for Progress is holding its 36th annual event, aimed at spreading education and communication for new and older families.
This year's theme was "moderation," focusing on avoiding excess or extremes, specifically in politics and behavior.
Organizers tell CBS 58 that it's a great way to spread peace and happiness throughout the community at the start of summer.
"People come, like you said, have smiling faces, so I know the smiling face is an indication that the spirit that's inside. So, it makes us all feel good to be a small contributor to making this whole thing happen," said Mark Wade with Fathers for Progress.
Dads at the event were offered information and resources on parenting, given food, free haircuts, while kids played in bounce houses, listened to live entertainment, and of course, spent time with their dads.
