The Peace For Change Alliance will host the 2nd Annual "Sleepover For Education" this Friday starting at 7 p.m. at MLK (previously 3rd Street) and North.
The new school year is just around the corner and there are many families unable to provide their children with all the supplies they need to be successful in the classroom.
Community activist Tracey Dent came up with the idea to spend a full night outdoors accepting donations and make new connection in the community.
He has garnered the support of Common Council Member Miele Coggs who incorporated the event into the official Bronzeville Week which is a celebration of the north side neighborhood's deep cultural and artistic roots and promising future in commerce and a hub of community activity.
All supplies will be donated to a MPS school with children in need.
Items needed (but not limited to) include:
Bookbags
Plastic Supply Boxes
Pencil Pouches
Washable White Glue Sticks
Crayons Colored Pencils.
