27 Wisconsin schools, including 7 in Milwaukee, will get touchless water filling stations thanks to Delta Dental

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation announced Thursday, Sept. 24, the donation of $100,000 for 27 Wisconsin schools to install touchless water bottle filling stations.

The donation is part of the "Cool Water Program" and includes seven schools in Milwaukee:

  • Maple Tree Elementary
  • St. Joseph Academy
  • Notre Dame School of Milwaukee
  • Riley School
  • St. Joan Antida High School
  • Hawthorne Elementary
  • Yeshiva Elementary

According to a news release, the Cool Water Program grant helps cover the installation costs of touchless water bottle stations. The effort is important because drinking fluoridated water helps reduce cavities and protects precious tooth enamel by washing away harmful bacteria.

Selection for the awardees was based on the schools having fluoridated water, a high percentage of students with free-and-reduced meals, and the sustainability and creativity of their implementation plans to encourage students to drink more water.
