25-year-old woman, dog die in accident after losing control on ice-covered roadway in Fond du Lac County

FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 25-year-old woman and her dog were killed in an accident on New Year's Eve.

The crash happened around 12:34 p.m. Monday on Hwy 26 near Griffith Road in the Town of Rosendale.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, a southbound vehicle on Hwy 26, driven by a 25-year-old woman from Brandon, had lost control of her vehicle on the ice and snow-covered roadway.

The woman's vehicle spun and entered the northbound lane of travel where she was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 61-year-old woman from Winneconne.

The 25-year-old woman and her dog who was also in the vehicle died at the scene.

The 61-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. 

The crash remains under investigation.

Names of the involved drivers are also being withheld pending the investigation.
