21-year-old woman choked by stranger who tried to photobomb her picture

MADISON, Wis. - A woman lost consciousness early Friday morning after being choked by a stranger who tried to photobomb a picture she and her friends were taking, police said.

The 21-year-old was in the 600 block of University Avenue around 2:30 a.m. with a group of friends when the man approached them, according to a release.

The man talked about how much his clothing cost and how much money he had, police said. He also pulled out a wad of money and tossed some bills in the air.

One of victim’s friends picked up some of the money, but even after the bills were returned, he became enraged with the victim, according to the release. The man attacked her, placing both of his hands around her neck while shaking her head.

After regaining consciousness, the victim fled the area with her friends, officials said. Police were contacted later in the morning.
