20th annual Milwaukee County Zoo blood drive gives 2 free Summerfest tickets to donors

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The American Red Cross will be at the Milwaukee County Zoo for their 20th annual blood drive Tuesday, June 10 through Thursday, June 12. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The drive will take place at the zoo's Peck Center on 10001 W. Bluemound Rd. While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are welcome.
Donors will get a free same-day zoo admission, parking and two free tickets to Summerfest - only while supplies last!
In a press release, the American Red Cross expressed that during the summer donations decrease, which impact patient care.
"Unfortunately, the need for blood and platelet transfusions doesn't take a summer break," read the release.
All blood types are vital, but the most pressing is Type O blood, as during medical emergencies there isn't much time to screen for blood type. O negative is the universal donor and can be used on anyone. O positive is the most common blood type and is relied on heavily.
You can make an appointment by downloading the American Red Cross Blood Donor app or visit their website. You can even call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
