BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two people and a dog are dead after a fire broke out at a home in Brookfield on Saturday, Feb. 28.

The Brookfield Fire Department says they were called out to the scene on Brookdale Drive around 7:13 a.m.

Upon arrival, crews battled heavy fire conditions and immediately began search and rescue operations.

Firefighters say they located two people and a dog inside the home. Crews took one person to Froedtert Hospital, where they later died.

The second person and the dog were pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members identified 26-year-old Dylan Wall and his father, 66-year-old Thomas Wall, along with Dylan's dog Django, as the victims in the deadly fire.

Three police officers also sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. No firefighters were injured.

Neighbors say they watched crews respond to the fire.

“As the fire got bigger and bigger, it was just harder and harder for the firemen and police officers to do their job and try to get in that house and try to rescue the people.” said Phonekeo Siharath, who lives in the area.

The Brookfield Fire and Police Departments are working with the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigations - State Fire Marshal's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to determine the origin and cause of the fire.

At this time, officials do not believe the fire is a result of criminal activity. Members of the Brookfield Police Department were on scene Sunday as the home was surrounded by police tape.

An investigation is ongoing.

A GoFundMe has been created to support Dylan Wall's sister, Jennifer Wall, and mother, Sherry Wheeler, as they arrange cremation and memorial services. You can find the link here.
