MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two people displaced from a Milwaukee apartment complex that was deemed uninhabitable are now taking legal action.
They are suing the SoHi Lofts, saying the property owners knew about the apartment's structural problems. This comes after people were evacuated from 16 units in September.
In August, the Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services got a report that stairs collapsed. In the lawsuit, city documentation claims issues with deteriorating walkways, corroding metal staircases, and shoring, since 2021.
The companies will have 45 days to respond when they're served.
CBS 58 reached out to the owners for comment and are waiting to hear back.
