WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Saturday, June 28, the West Allis Police Department responded to a call of a male shot outside a home along 91st St. 

Law enforcement arrived and encountered a 72-year-old male with a firearm. Officers ordered the man to drop the gun, but he refused to comply. 

Several officers discharged their weapons, and the man was struck and killed. 

The preliminary investigation showed that the 72-year-old shot a 71-year-old man and woman. The 71-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

All parties were acquainted with one another. 

No officers were injured and the six officers involved have been place on administrative duty, which is required by state law. 

Law enforcement is investigating the incident.
