JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Jefferson County sheriff's officials say two people have died following a crash in the Town of Cold Spring Wednesday, Sept. 17. 

Deputies responded to a 911 call for a crash involving an SUV and semi tractor trailer on County Highway N, just south of Carnes Road, around 2:22 p.m. 

The sheriff's office says a preliminary investigation revealed the semi was traveling northbound on County Highway N when it began to enter the eastside gravel shoulder. The driver overcorrected back onto the road and, crossing the center line and striking an SUV traveling southbound. 

Despite lifesaving efforts, the sheriff's office says both the driver and passenger of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene. 

The semi driver was uninjured. 

The incident is being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Major Accident Investigation Team.
