MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 15-year-old Mequon boy was killed in a vehicle crash at 1:59 a.m. today -- on July 2 -- near the 9800 block of N. River Road in Mequon.

He was the passenger of the vehicle.

Police say they arrived on scene and located a single vehicle crash with severe damage.

The vehicle was headed northbound on N. River Road and lost control while hitting a curve. This caused the vehicle to cross the center line and hit a tree on the west side of the road.

Police say an 18-year-old Mequon man -- who was the driver -- was taken into custody and taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
