15-Year-old accused of killing 19-year-old Semar McClain

RACINE -- 15-year-old Tommy Canady is charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide after he allegedly shot and killed 19-year-old Semar McClain on July 29, 2014. Witnesses say the two were in talks to exchange or sell their guns to each other.

According to the criminal complaint, witnesses spotted Canady holding his .38 caliber revolver and McClain holding his .38 caliber handgun on the 800 block of Jackson St. in Racine. One witness told police the two were talking about trading or selling their guns to each other around 4:35 p.m. on July 29.

Racine police responded to reports of a dead body around 5:00 p.m. on the 1300 block of Blake Ave. They found McClain laying in a house's backyard with a gunshot wound to the head, and his pockets emptied.

The criminal complaint says investigators caught a break when a tip led them to Canady's Sound Cloud account. Two days after McClain's death, Canady posted a song where he rapped about shooting and killing McClain. In his rap song titled \"I'm out here\" Canady allegedly said, \"get Semar slipping , walking through the alley, gangly a-- tried to run like an athlete but bullets catch n-----, bullets run track meets, bullet hit the n---- head and he falls to his toes, he thinks he's the s--- now he getting exposed.\" The song has been removed from the website.

Racine police executed a search warrant at Canady's house, and found both guns witnesses reported seeing were in Canady's possession.
