13-Year-Old Drowns in River in Racine

RACINE - A 13-year-old female has drowned in a river at Island Park in Racine. The girl was playing with her 9-year-old cousin near the river. It is unclear on whether she jumped in the river or she fell in. The 9-year-old cousin left to find an adult to call for help. 

Racine Police Officers pulled the girl out of the river and she was unresponsive. Racine Rescue attempted to revive her but attempts were unsuccessful.

There is nothing suspicious expected but the investigation is ongoing. No further information is being released at this time. 

Racine Police investigators are interested in any additional information that anyone may have. Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are urged to call the Racine Police Department Investigators Unit at 262-635-7756.
