12-Year-old Waukesha stabbing victim released from hospital

WAUKESHA -- The 12-year-old Waukesha girl stabbed 19 times by two other 12-year-old girls on May 31, 2014, has been discharged from the hospital.

The victim's parents released the following statement:

“Today, our daughter was released from Waukesha Memorial Hospital into the care of her family and friends. She is excited to be out of the hospital, see her pets, and continue along the road to recovery. Our family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support and love from not only the local community, but from around the nation, and the world. We are especially thankful to everyone who has donated to the Hearts for Healing fund.

While we have kept discussions about the events of May 31, 2014 with her short, we did ask how she found the strength to crawl out of the woods. Her response was simple: ‘I wanted to live.’

We now need time to heal and ask that everyone please continue to respect our privacy and distance, and especially her anonymity, at this time.”
