11-Year-old girl injured in shooting near 25th and Capitol Dr.

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating a shooting that injured an 11-year-old girl in an alley near the intersection of N. 25th and Capitol Dr.

Police say the 11-year-old girl was with a 29-year-old man involved in an argument with another man. Both were shot by the man the 29-year-old male victim was involved in an argument with.

The 29-year-old man was able to drive himself and the 11-year-old girl to a local hospital. They were both transported to a different hospital by an ambulance.

Police continue to investigate the argument that led to the shooting, and have yet to make any arrests.

One resident, Joshua Graham told CBS 58 News that gunshots are so frequent in the neighborhood that at first they didn't react when they heard the gunfire.

Once word got around that a child was struck, that's when many came to the scene to help.

Lt.  Kevin Armbruster said at first the victims were being driven to a local hospital in a civilian car, but soon an ambulance arrived to take the child and an adult male who was also hit to another hospital with a trauma center.
