11-Year-old boy shot in Town of Sharon identified

WALWORTH COUNTY -- The Walworth County Sheriff's Office has identified the 11-year-old boy shot and killed in the Town of Sharon as Eric Gutierrez.
Police were dispatched to the wooded area behind N.1602 County Highway K in the Town of Sharon around 12:33 p.m. They found Gutierrez with a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics transported the boy to Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Gutierrez was declared brain dead at 12:38 a.m.
Investigators talked to the 13-year-old boy with Gutierrez at the time of the shooting. They also recovered the handgun, and collected other pieces of evidence.
