10-Year-old girl shot at playground taken off life support

MILWAUKEE -- Family members confirm 10-year-old Sierra Guyton has been taken off life support, and is breathing on her own.Guyton was the girl shot in the head while playing at a playground near Clarke St. Elementary School in Milwaukee.


According to court documents, 18-year-old Sylvester Lewis was confronted by 28-year-old Jamey Jackson's friend just outside Clarke St. Elementary School, 2816 W.Clarke St. Jackson's friend accused Lewis of stealing his \"baby's momma's kid's\" clothes. Lewis told police Jackson began backing away from the group, and was \"upping\" a gun.


Lewis told police he got off his bike, and walked to the street. He alleges Jackson was pointing a gun at him and threatened to kill him. Lewis says after Jackson opened fire on him, he fired his gun until it was empty. One of Lewis' bullets hit 10-year-old Sierra Guyton who was on the school's playground.


A teenage witness says she saw Jackson fleeing the scene of the shooting, and putting the gun back in his pants.


We have confirmed Jackson was out on probation when 10-year-old Sierra Guyton was shot.
