1 killed, 1 injured in shooting on Madison's north side

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Madison police say a shooting that left one dead and one seriously injured was a homicide and attempted suicide.

Police responded about 11:30 p.m. Sunday to multiple reports of shots fired inside an apartment building on the city's north side. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and the other transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the two men had argued and the suspect shot the victim. The suspect then left the apartment and turned the gun on himself in the hallway. The suspect is reported to be in critical condition.

The names of the two men have not been released.
