NEXT:

5:45pm Update: Snow continues across much of the area. Ozaukee and Milwaukee counties have also been added to the advisory that runs until 8pm this evening.

Check out the latest radar:
The band of snow has started to shift a bit south too. Southern counties can expect snow over through the mid evening while spots north of I-94 are seeing this wrap up.

1pm Update: While the morning snow showing up on radar didn't reach the ground, the next batch is, and has already had a report of 4". The National Weather Service has now issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Waukesha, Washington, Dodge and Jefferson counties from 3-8pm today. In the advisory area we expect snow of 2-4". With the waffling north and south of this incoming system over the past few days, this band has set up camp with a trajectory right through the center of the viewing area. As a result, far northern and southern communities throughout southeast Wisconsin likely see under an inch of snow. 1-3" is still expected elsewhere, and that includes the Milwaukee metro.

This is headed right through the center of the viewing area. Snow rates may grow to a half to full inch per hour for a period of time today. Additionally, as winds swing northeast late tonight into Sunday some additional lake effect snow showers may drop additional light accumulations.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)--Running more than an inch behind for snow for February and an inch and a half for the season.  So, the snow we're getting for the last day of February is actually quite welcomed. Look for general amounts at least of 1-3" with the highest amounts north of I-94. Snow should wrap up into early Sunday morning.  A bit of lake effect is possible, mainly along the lakefront areas as well.  This could add another inch or snow in spots. We then quiet down for a few days before turning wet again by Tuesday.  Tuesday's precip could start as a wintry mix as well.  It looks wetter by Thursday, lasting into much of next weekend. Highs by then should be in the 40s, even some 50s. A few rumbles of thunder are possible too.

Lesser amounts to the south, higher to the south...

Temps in the 20s today with wind chill numbers in the teens...
