WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- A Wisconsin Rapids man receiving treatment after a bone marrow transplant at Froedtert Hospital is heading home Thursday, Dec. 24, cancer-free.
For the past three weeks, Jim Mohr has been staying at Kathy's House, a nonprofit hospital guest house that provides lodging and a supportive environment to families who are experiencing personal illness or the serious illness of a loved one.
"The residents here -- it's kinda nice to socialize with them, as far as talking about your illness and their illness and plus helping with their spouse, too," said Mohr.
"We remained open the entire year because cancer doesn't stop for COVID and accidents don't stop and people still need organ transplants," said Patty Metropulos, president and CEO of Kathy's House.
Kathy's House has been open since 2001 and has served more than 20,000 guests.
