Wintry weather delays, cancels flights at Gen. Mitchell

MILWAUKEE -- Wintry weather in Milwaukee and around the country hits the airport as well.  Plenty of people in the main concourse could be heard saying, \"Woulda, coulda, shoulda checked ahead.\"

Flights coming into and departing Milwaukee were affected, especially ones headed east and south.

Three flights from Chicago for Thursday afternoon were canceled as were four flights scheduled to leave for the windy city.

The winter storms also are affecting a lot of flights to and from New York, Boston, Charlotte and New Orleans.

Randy Brehm and his wife drove down from Plymouth Thursday morning.  They were waiting on an incoming flight from Atlanta that was delayed.

\"Just Wisconsin weather,\" Brehm said.  \"We don't really know why it's delayed, if it's on the other end or coming into here or what.  It is what it is.\"

\"As this winter storm moves across the eastern seaboard we may see some more [delays],\" Airport Marketing Manager Ryan McAdams said.  \"The best advice for travelers if they're headed out east, make sure to stay in touch with your airlines.  Take advantage of things like text alerts and smartphone apps that alert you before you come to the airport.\"

McAdams says snow crews were out working on runways and planes since Wednesday night.  As of noon Thursday, all runways were in good shape.
