Winter Solstice Candlelight Tour at the Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee
Celebration of the Winter Solstice is a common human tradition over the millennia, as a chance to reconnect with nature and share a special experience as a community.
The Urban Ecology Center is committed to protecting public natural areas like Riverside Park, and making them safe, accessible and vibrant.
On Saturday, December 19th, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. the center will host a kid friendly candlelight walk
Then from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. there will be 30 minute long candlelight walks that from the center every quarter hour.
Small groups of kids and adults will be walking through Riverside Park along a candlelit path, enjoying music, poems and the quiet of the park on one of the longest night of the year.
The Urban Ecology Center at Riverside Park is located at 1500 E. Park Place. That's two blocks east of Oakland in Milwaukee.
Parking is available in lot just southwest of the center.
Jamie Ferschinger, the Riverside Park Branch Manager, will be a special live guest Wednesday on the CBS 58 News at 4:30 p.m. to talk more about the event.
