Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Bunilla
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Spring is here, and more people are spending time outside. Volunteers went out to Washington Park in Milwaukee to clean up the area on Saturday, March 30.
The spring cleanup was put on by Friends of Washington Park and other community members.
County Executive David Crowley joined the volunteers. He says it's important to tidy up so everyone can enjoy the parks.
"We're seeing cigarette butts, we're seeing chip bags, we're seeing bottles from soda pops and things of that nature, so we're making some progress. But every day we need all of our visitors all across Milwaukee County, our neighbors, and just people who enjoy our parks to get involved and making sure that we can beautify Milwaukee County," said Crowley.
The spring cleaning comes as Crowley recently announced new federal funding for the park to build new stormwater infrastructure and improvements for the Urban Ecology Center there.
