MILWAUKEE, WI (CBS 58) – Another boost for the ongoing renaissance happening in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley. A first look was unveiled Tuesday.
The Menomonee Valley Partners see untapped potential for 40 acres of land.
It’s a collaboration between UWM students, the City of Milwaukee, and The Menomonee Valley Partners.
In January, six architecture firms spent a day developing design concepts for six sites.
On Tuesday the final concepts were unveiled, showing the potential the riverfront has.
The ideas included dog parks, office space, warehouses, and a river walk.
“Some of the sites still need a roadway,” explained Corey Zetts, executive director of Menomonee Valley Partners. “in part of this process teams looked at the best location for roads. We’ve looked at everything we need to get the infrastructure ready. We think some of these sites could really start to develop within the next year.”
Organizers say the next step is finding funding for the river walk, which could help attract businesses to the area.
