Vigil held for murdered 5-year-old in Milwaukee

On Sunday a vigil was held for 5-year-old Laylah Petersen.

Petersen was killed when a person or people opened fire on the home where she was sitting on her grandfather's lap.

Twelve shots where fired into the home and, according to police, Laylah was struck in the back of the head.

Hundreds of people showed their support for Laylah and her family at the vigil, which was held outside of where she was killed at 58th and Fairmount.

Religious leaders from across the community asked that people continue to support the family and help bring those responsible to justice.

The family is asking that all gifts be dropped off to Our Lady of Good Hope, 7152 N 41st St., Milwaukee. 

All stuffed animals will be donated to the Milwaukee Children's Hospital.

Fundraisers include \"Remembering Our Sweet Angel Laylah.\"

Laylah's wake on Wednesday from 9:30-10:30, mass 11 AM, funeral procession to follow. At Lady of Good Hope Church.
