WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In an updated release Waukesha Police say they were called by a concerned citizen who said they had not seen their neighbor in three days. The citizen said the neighbor's truck was parked on the street with expensive tools in the back, the mail was piling up and she was concerned for the man's welfare and his cats.

Officers determined the information warranted a welfare check.

When officers arrived they couldn't get through the door and later learned it was barricaded with furniture. With the help of Waukesha Fire a ladder was used to get in through a second-floor bedroom.

Officers found one man dead from a gunshot wound to the head in an upstairs bedroom closet. The man was holding a silver gun with his hand still on the trigger.

Waukesha Police found a second person dead in the basement utility room partially covered with a sheet with a substantial amount of blood around him.

Police are still investigating the incident but believe it to be a murder-suicide. They have determined that the two men knew each other but their relationship is unknown. Two .22 caliber guns and a hunting knife were found at the scene.

The cause of death has not been determined but the men have been identified as 54-year-old Alan Skarzynski and 33-year-old Dustin Congleton.
