MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- When it comes to modern medicine, the future is now. A group of local students got a hands-on lesson at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Monday.
They were there to check out the hospital's newest robotic surgical system.
Doctors were there to demonstrate how it works, and they got to try out some of the equipment themselves.
"Medicine isn't all about book smarts and knowing how to diagnose, said Franklin High School senior Kayla Dudor. "It's also about how engineers come into it and how it's always growing and always evolving and that I can't just ignore engineering, I need to keep up with technologies."
One of the doctors at the demonstration said he hopes it inspires some of the students to consider medicine as their chosen field.
